Starbuzz Exotic Melon Blue

Today I will be reviewing Starbuzz Exotic Melon Blue Tobacco.

Set up used:  Chinese Hookah

Coals:  Quick Light, Three Kings

This was my first time having this flavor, the smell is fantastic.  I cant put my finger on what the smell is but the best way to explain it is like a blue raspberry bubblegum or something along those lines. This tobacco is not as juicy as the fantasia brand and is not “vibrant” in color, looks like wet tobacco really.

After around 10 pulls I started getting the first hints of smoke, had almost a caramel taste to it, very curious if it will continue or if my taste buds are going wacko (now have water to rinse my pallet).  I started off with 1 QL charcoal split in half, ended up adding another one as it seems to not be taking off very well.

After 10 minutes of smoking, neither my wife or I could tell what the flavor is.  No longer getting caramel but a light fruity taste like none I have ever had.  The smoke is not as thick and rich as other tobacco’s we have had, it may be how I have it set up as I am not used to this tobacco.

This was harsh through out the smoking session, no matter what I did. I re packed it, changed the charcoal pattern, put less on, emptied the smoke out of vase…and it didn’t seem to help at all. The only thing it had going for it was the nice head buzz.

I didnt bother adding a picture of the smoke quality as it sucked.  I have 50g of this so I will try it again and if anything is different I will update and re-post.

Smoke Time: 1 hour

Flavor: 5.5

Smoke: 5

Buzz: 8

Large quantity purchase?  ….NO

Fantasia Strawberry Lemonade

Today I will be reviewing Fantasias Strawberry Lemonade Tobacco.

Set up used:  Chinese Hookah

Coals:  Quick Light, Three Kings

This is another juicy, bright red and great smelling tobacco

(looks just like the Candy Cane tobacco)

The flavor is strong, loads of lemonade citrus with a mellow strawberry blast. On the inhale with smoke rolling over your tongue its like sucking on a strawberry lemonade sucker, with a nice flavor on the exhale.  This one leaves you with a sugar like after taste and does tend to make your saliva thicker.

As you can see the smoke is nice and thick

The other great thing I love about Fantasia line is how the juice will flow into the vase and give you an added flavor when the smoke draws through the water.

Smoke Time: 1.5 hours

Flavor: 7.5

Smoke: 8

Buzz: 7

Large quantity purchase?  Not large, but I will be purchasing more for sure.

Perdomo Reserve Champagne Noir

Wrapper: Cuban seed maduro from Nicaragua

Binder/Filler: Nicaraguan/Nicaraguan

Size: 4.7 x 56 Figurado

Age: unknown

Smoking Location- Ghetto Smoke Shack

Cut Method- Punch

Pre-Smoke & Construction:

The wrapper was a rich and chocolate looking, not many signs of veins, and seemless. The wrapper had a sweet chocolate coffee smell and slightly nutty.  The pre-light draw was decent and filled my mouth with a slight spice and again tasting of coffee.  Cigar felt hard and tightly rolled, no give to it.

After the light:

Method- 3 flame torch

Lit nice and even, and not a hard draw like I was afraid it was going to give me.  Produced a hefty amount of smoke, slight spice and more of a woodsy taste than I would have expected after the pre light scents. However, after a bit the flavor went to a coffee and left a slight dryness in my mouth.  The coffee would be the prominent flavor until the last 3rd.  Where I then picked up more nutty/chocolate flavor for the rest of the stick.

It started out on the bottom half of a Medium bodied smoke and finished a strong Medium bodied cigar.

Ash length- 1.5 inches

Flavor- 6.5

Draw- 7.0

Construction- 6.5

Appearance- 8.0

Box Worthy?  Hell yes, this is a great stick and is one of my favorites.  I really enjoyed this size as well.

Gurkha- Centurian

Wrapper: Connecticut wrapper                                                                                                          Binder/Filler: Dominican                                                                                                                         Size: 6 x 60                                                                                                                                                 Age: Few months                                                                                                                               Smoking Location- Ghetto Smoke Shack                                                                                                  Cut Method- Dual Blade

Pre-Smoke & Construction:  Bumpy, rough, lots of veins. Smells of Earth, slight chocolate and bits of coffee

Pre Draw: Slight spice, with hints of chocolate

Method- 3 flame torch

Very rich first pull, with an almost mossy type taste (or what I would imagine moss tasting like) with a hint of spice.  The draw is horrid the first 1/3 (poker after every 3rd draw).  The earthy flavored continued on through the middle half of the stick, then turned to a woody/coffee like flavor with great rich smoke.

The draw has not gotten better.  Last half, continued the woody flavor but more coffee with hints of chocolate. I wanted to toss this to the side after the frustrating draw, but finished it and was glad I did for the flavor profile. The last section was very rich and creamy. I think the draw is due to the shape of the stick.

Ash length- 1.5

Flavor- 7

Draw- 4

Construction- 5

Appearance- 8.0

Box Worthy?  No, but I would not hesitate to pick up a single stick here and there.

Fantasia Candy Cane

Today I will be reviewing Fantasias Candy Can Tobacco.

Set up used:  Chinese Hookah

Coals:  Quick Light, Three Kings (no natural coals at the moment)

This is one of my favorite flavors made by Fantasia, like all other Fantasia flavors it is very juicy and has a high content of flavoring.

The flavor hits right away, after 10 minutes or so the smoke volume is great, nice and thick.  The flavor across the tounge while drawing in the smoke is just like sucking on a candy cane, followed by a nice cooling down your throat, with exhale you get the same flavor and no nasty sugary aftertaste like you do with some flavors.

The other great thing I love about Fantasia line is how the juice will flow into the vase and give you an added flavor when the smoke draws through the water. It is also a great “Mixer” add to any flavor for a nice cooling effect.

Smoke Time: Mostly solo- 1 hour

Flavor: 8

Smoke: 8

Buzz: 7-8 (Got up when wife got home and had to sit back down)

Large quantity purchase?  Hell to the ya

CAO- America

Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro and Shade

Binder/Filler: Brazil…..Ligero from Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Italy, and USA

Size: 5 x 56

Age: Few months

Smoking Location- Ghetto Smoke Shack

Cut Method- Dual Blade

Pre-Smoke & Construction:

The wrapper is smooth and consistent and very appealing to the eye.  The construction of the “barber pole” is fantastic, the colors from the bands is great.   The lighter strip through out the stick is not an even size, smaller in some areas and wider in others.  Upon smelling the stick I was overwhelmed with an almost hay like smell, pre draw was tasty with a bit of spice.

After the light:

Method- 3 flame torch

This lit very easily and even, first thing I was watching for was an inconsistent burn due to the two different wrappers, but I was proved wrong.  I was not expecting such a “nutty” flavor with this stick due to the first initial smell and pre draw, the first 1/3 of this stick hits me as a medium body.

The middle kicked it up a notch and hit me as a medium/full cigar, the flavor changed and hit me as earthy with hints of leather.  This continued through the rest of the stick and by the last 1/3 would say it worked its way to a full bodied cigar.

Ash length- 4 inches  (had a great picture but all my pictures seem to have been erased)

Flavor- 7

Draw- 7.5

Construction- 8

Appearance- 8.0

Box Worthy?  Maybe a 5er, but at a cost of around $8.00, I did not enjoy it enough to pop off on a full box.
